How To Be soundtrack cover

We are pleased to announce that the How To Be soundtrack will be released on CD and digital download on April 28. The soundtrack release date coincides with IFC Festival Direct’s April 29 release of How To Be in the United States on their On Demand cable service.

The soundtrack includes three original songs performed by the star of How To Be, Robert Pattinson. The digital download will be available from iTunes and other retailers on April 28. The CD is available for pre-order now through Dreamboat Records.

A special 12-page booklet featuring song lyrics, new How To Be photos and one of two randomly selected fold-out posters of Robert Pattinson and the cast accompanies the CD.

Pre-order the CD direct from Dreamboat Records and:

  • Save $2 on the recommended retail price ($13.98 instead of the RRP price of $15.98).
  • Have a chance to win one of 250 limited edition CD booklets personally signed by Robert Pattinson, which will be inserted into randomly selected CDs pre-ordered directly from Dreamboat Records!

The 23-track collection features the striking original score of How To Be by composer Joe Hastings and the quirky electronic sounds of musician-actor Johnny White, who plays Ronny in the film. A must-have soundtrack for any Pattinson fan, other musical highlights include ‘Old Man’ by Love, ‘Clear Spot’ by elusive genius Captain Beefheart and How To Be fan favourite, the enchanting ‘Hammond Song’ by The Roches. See the new “soundtrack” page on the How To Be website for the full tracklisting.

“Music is extremely important throughout the film and was a part of the screenplay right from the start,” says writer-director Oliver Irving. “I am very pleased with the soundtrack and everyone’s contribution to it — it truly sums up the feeling of the film.”

The soundtrack release date coincides with IFC Festival Direct’s April 29 release of How To Be in the United States. More news on this and releases elsewhere in the world is coming soon! In the meantime, tickets are on sale for the U.S. Tour screenings, which will be attended by cast and crew, and screenings in Singapore and Sydney.

Tour update

19 March, 2009

We’d like to give a couple of clarifications and amendments to the news we announced earlier in the week.

Firstly, the date we gave for the Singapore screening in the email was incorrect. The screening will be at 11:30am on Saturday April 25. Buy tickets here.

Secondly, the New York screenings are indeed at midnight on Friday April 24 and Saturday April 25. Tickets are on sale now: Friday, Saturday.

Tickets for many of the other screenings are also on sale. Check the links on the See the film! page for more information.

Finally, director Oliver Irving is unfortunately unable to attend the March 28 screening at the Burbank Film Festival in person. We are hoping to set up a telephone Q&A after the screening, and there is a screening in Santa Monica a couple of weeks later, which both Oliver and composer Joe Hastings will attend.

Picture of Ronny, Nikki and Art

Last month we mentioned that the cast and crew of How To Be would be taking the film on the road in the U.S. this spring, and now we’re thrilled to announce the schedule!

The tour will kick-off on the west coast with Oliver Irving (writer/director) and Joe Hastings (composer) at the Las Vegas International Film Festival on 10 April. Mike Pearce (Nikki) and Johnny White (Ronny) will meet up with them in Florida on 17 April, and together the four will work their way up and around the east coast, bringing the film to festivals and special cinema screenings in cities from Florida to Massachusetts. Festival tickets will be available soon through each festival website, and tickets for special tour screenings can be purchased directly through each theatre beginning this Wednesday 18 March. See our new See the film! page for the full list of U.S. Tour screenings!

Also coming up soon is Asia’s premiere screening of How To Be, which will be shown at the Singapore International Film Festival on 25 April and will be attended by producer Justin Kelly. Tickets for this screening are on sale now. And don’t forget the Australian premiere in Sydney.

We are also pleased to debut a new page on the How To Be website — “Director’s Diary” — where we will post video clips from the cast and crew out on the road with How To Be. First up, check out Oliver’s personal video from the Cinequest Film Festival screening to get the director’s look at the 1000+ person crowd. Thank you to everyone who came out to see How To Be at Cinequest and helped sell-out the festival’s largest venue! Enjoy!
